'Robust' Lennon Miller can play a part against St Mirren despite injury, says Motherwell boss

Lennon Miller limped off with a hamstring injury as Scotland under-19s lost to Italy – but Motherwell boss Stuart Kettlewell hopes the midfielder can feature against St Mirren on Saturday.Kettlewell says Miller is made of stern stuff and has played through worse injuries this season, but admits how he fares in the next 24 hours is key.Miller limped off in the last minute of a 3-1 defeat in Italy on March 20, and appeared to be clutching his hamstring.But Kettlewell hopes the 17-year-old can play his part against Saints at Fir Park, as he bids for a Premiership top-six finish.Kettlewell said: “It’s enough of a concern to have him as a doubt.“He played with a fractured patella earlier in the season against Aberdeen, so for him to come off the pitch at any point genuinely tells you there’s a bit of an issue.“We’re hoping it’s not a massive one, we’re hoping it’s one that’s kind of touch and go for this weekend.“How much involvement he can have or not will be determined probably over the next 24 hours, but he’s such a robust lad, and I think that’s testament.“This is something I bang on about so much, young players learning the trade, it’s difficult sometimes to push yourself through the pain barrier.“But one thing I can assure you is he’s not a lad that is used to coming off the park after 60 or 70 minutes, I believe, in accordance to academy systems and various different things.“He’s used to playing 90 minutes, he wants to play 90 minutes, and I sort of see him as a leading light in that sense, in his mentality towards the game.“I’m hopeful that we can have him as an option for Saturday, but he’s quite clearly got a little bit of tightness in his hamstring.”Harry Paton is a player who has been added to an already-extensive
