After producing multiple fan-favorites over the years, Robert Rodriguez is letting the fans have a say in the filmmaking process.
The From Dusk Till Dawn director is leveraging his Troublemaker Studios to launch Brass Knuckle Films, a bold new action filmmaking initiative that will invite fans to become investors and take part in the process, as well as potentially have their feature film idea developed. “Across my work, I’ve always sought to overcome the idea that great action movies need big Hollywood budgets,” said Rodriguez in a statement. “With Brass Knuckle Films, we have a chance to rewrite the rules—giving fans the opportunity not just to watch, but to get a piece of the action.
It’s exciting to continue to create high-energy films for the people who love them, while now being able to offer direct access to the filmmaking process at such a monumental time for Texas film.” Backed by leading global investment platform Republic, which democratizes access to investment opportunities, Rodriguez is teaming with CAT5’s Alexis Garcia and longtime Troublemaker business manager Kevin Dartt.
Investors will be able to submit a movie concept for review by Troublemaker Studios, with 10 finalists selected to pitch their concepts directly to Rodriguez, who will choose which film gets produced based on originality, feasibility and market potential.
