But Di Maria bombed at Old Trafford and after just one season the forward left Man United for his current club Paris Saint-Germain.
Di Maria has been much better at PSG, and is in action for the Ligue 1 giants against Bayern Munich this Sunday in the Champions League final.
Ahead of the match, Ferdinand provided his thoughts on where it all went wrong for the 32-year-old during his one season at United, claiming he didn't like being the star man.
