Rio Ferdinand has jumped to the defence of David de Gea after the Manchester United goalkeeper's mistake in Sunday's 1-0 defeat to West Ham.
De Gea came in for heavy criticism again over the weekend after failing to stop Said Benrahma's weak effort at the London Stadium, with a second straight defeat intensifying the pressure to secure a top-four place.
United remain in fourth but are only a point ahead of Liverpool, who have played a game more. It was not the Spaniard's only major error this season, with a string of poor performances leading to doubts within the club over his future as No.1.
