Celtic are reportedly close to sealing another January transfer, with Riley McGree set to arrive from MLS side Charlotte FC.
Manager Ange Postecoglou has wasted no time in reinforcing his squad this month, with Japanese trio Reo Hatate, Yosuke Ideguchi and Daezan Maeda all arriving as soon as the window opened.
Youngster Johnny Kenny has also joined from Sligo Rovers and it appears Celtic may be close to sealing another deal. According to the Daily Mail they are closing in on the signing of Australian midfielder McGree, who has spent the last 18 months on loan at Birmingham City.
They were keen to sign the 23-year-old permanently but the newspaper believes it's Celtic who are in pole position, with Postecoglou a long-term admirer of his compatriot.Nottingham Forest and Middlesbrough have also been linked with a move for McGree, who is an Australian international with seven caps.The midfielder began his career with Adelaide United before making the jump to Europe with Club Brugge.He was loaned back Down Under, first to Newcastle Jets and then Melbourne City, before a permanent return to his first club.McGree joined MLS expansion franchise Charlotte in October 2020 but was immediately sent to Birmingham on loan.
