Rihanna actually did make an appearance at the 2022 Met Gala last night – just not in the way fans expected.
First revealed by Vogue magazine, the 34-year-old pregnant singer was immortalized, with her baby bump, as a Greek statue! The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City, and Vogue teamed up together to honor Rihanna, by transforming her recent Vogue cover into a marble statue that pays tribute to the Greek goddess of peace, given this year’s Met Gala’s Gilded Age theme. “The statue of ‘Eirene (The Personification of Peace)’ is usually the highest-profile marble goddess @themetmuseum Greco-Roman galleries.
But now we’ve got @badgalriri, straight off this month’s Vogue cover,” Vogue captioned on their Instagram account, showing off where the statue was placed in the antiquities wing. Rihanna also shared the video on her own account, adding, “shut down the met in marble!
what’s more gilded than that? Lol! Thank you @metmuseum and @voguemagazine for this historic tribute! y’all bad for this one!” Check out all of Rihanna‘s most recent Met Gala appearances in the gallery below!
