Residents in Lanarkshire urged to cash in on lethal weapons that will be outlawed later this year
dailyrecord.co.ukResidents in Lanarkshire are being forewarned that there are a host of weapons that are currently legal to own that will fall foul of the law from December 1 this year.Police Scotland has published a list of 21 lethal items, including knuckle dusters, “zombie” knives, and certain other blades, that will soon be illegal to own in your own home, and are urging members of the public to hand them in to them by September 30 to qualify for compensation.It is already a criminal offence to possess any of the weapons on the list in public.

They have to be handed in to a listed police station by the closing date to qualify for compensation. A claim form also has to be filled in which can be downloaded before attending at a police station, and any claim must be accompanied by documentation such as proof of ownership and photo ID.Any applicable weapons handed in after this date will be subject to confiscation and owners
