Residents have blasted 'out and out anti-social behaviour' after 'pyrotechnic' fireworks were set off and rockets fired into the air on a busy main road during rush-hour.
Video footage captures dozens of loud explosions, with men seen holding hand-held rocket launchers. It's understood the scenes played out after a wedding at a venue in the Smithills area of Bolton early on Wednesday evening.
Police have confirmed officers were called to the scene. One resident said cars blocked Chorley Old Road, one of the main routes in and out of Bolton town centre, as celebrations spilled out onto the street.
They said a 999 call operator 'struggled to hear me over the noise' and elderly residents living near the scene were left terrified by the deafening noise.
