A hiker has been rushed to hospital after slipping on a rock in horror conditions . Mountain rescue teams raced to Steall Falls, near near Ben Nevis, after the alarm was raised at around 2.15pm on Thursday.The woman was close to the waterfall, which is located in a wide open scenic valley backed by the tall mountains of the Nevis Gorge, when she fell.
During freezing temperatures and torrential rain a stretcher party was dispatched before the casualty was located with an injured ankle.
Rescue teams applied a splint before carrying the woman down to the car park. Pictures taken from the scene showed rescue teams wrapped up in winter coats attending to the casualty.
Snow could be seen at the gorge as crews battled through the freezing temperatures. Another image showed rescue teams trekking through a waterfall with the stretcher before they handed the woman over to ambulance crews.Medics then raced her to Belford Hospital in Fort William for further assessment.
