Hiker rushed to hospital with ankle injury following rescue mission near Fort William

A hiker has been rushed to hospital after being rescued from Scotland's second-highest waterfall.Lochaber Mountain Rescue Team battled torrential rain on Thursday, January 12, to save the walker who had suffered an ankle injury while scaling Steall Gorge located near Fort William in the Highlands.

Rescuers quickly located the casualty before medically trained members of the crew applied simple splintage.The walker was stretchered a short distance to the car park where paramedics from the Scottish Ambulance Service were waiting.

The casualty was then rushed to the Belford Hospital.Lochaber Mountain Rescue Team wrote in a post: "A torrential Thursday afternoon in Steall Gorge… the old saying of wet rocks are slippery rocks couldn’t have been truer."A stretcher party was dispatched to assist with an ankle injury.

After some simple splintage and a quick birl back to the top car park to our waiting colleagues from the Scottish Ambulance Service, the casualty was taken to the Belford Hospital for further assessment."
