An injured climber was rescued by emergency crews after falling from a Scots mountain.The incident took place around 5.30pm on Friday, January 20 when Glencoe Mountain Rescue Team were alerted to a 21-year-old man having fallen on Buachaille, situated at the head of Glen Etive in the Highlands.The team raced to the 956-metre peak, which is popular with ramblers, when the climber's male walking partner raised the alarm after the pair fell high up on the mountain.Crews soon encountered some trouble, however, as the position of the couple on the hill was challenging to access.
The entire circuit is 8km, and the hike normally takes around five hours to complete, which added to their troubles.A helicopter was requested and dispatched from Inverness to airlift the victim to safety and prevent both them and their counterpart from encountering further trouble.
Photos taken at the scene, which were shared on social media, show a squad of rescuers decked out in high-vis, waterproof clothing, head torches, helmets and other safety gear assembling at the base of the mountain.A van is parked on site filled with medical and technical climbing equipment, which two small parties of volunteers prepared while waiting on the helicopter.The stricken adventurer was airlifted to Belford Hospital in Fort William and the other man was also airlifted to safety.
