The country's coastguard said two helicopters, three coastguard patrol boats, a private boat and two nearby vessels were searching for survivors near to the island of Milos.
A coastguard spokeswoman said “as far as we know”, all those involved are Greek, and they are in a “healthy” condition. It was not immediately clear who had been on board the yacht or what their nationalities were, but media outlets reported that the boat was carrying a British flag.
