Renton’s River City star Gayle Telfer-Stevens is set to star in the penultimate TV show before the bells this Hogmanay. The actress will appear in the show Queen of the New Year on BBC One Scotland at 11pm written by Helensburgh resident and Burnistoun-known Robert Florence and directed by Still Game star Greg Hemphill. The actress has admitted that appearing and writing on the sketch show, in such a prominent position on the Hogmanay schedule, will be the cherry on top of the cake in a year to remember. She said: “It has been an eventful year.
I feel like I have been in everything but the Co-op window this year. I am so, so grateful. From the anniversary of River City to now this, it has honestly been amazing.“With this being the second year of the show, and how well it was received, there was a bit more pressure, and you’re hoping there is no second album syndrome.
But honestly, after doing it last year, I feel like we and Robert and Greg, have a clearer picture of what the audience liked and wanted.“It is really cool to be in that spot because it is like the top spot.
We managed to write a sketch on the Dolls, so that will get a feature in it too, which is extra special for me.“Being included in the writer’s room was extra special.
