Renters could save £240 a year under government's new rules for UK landlords

Renters across the country are set to benefit from cheaper energy bills and warmer homes under the government's Plan for Change.

Over the last few years, families have faced rocketing energy bills as a result of an overreliance on international gas markets, whilst thousands of tenants have been left living in cold, draughty homes, pushing bills up even higher.

The Department for Energy Security and Net Zero has now announced a new proposal for raising minimum energy efficiency standards in the private rented sector.

Under bold new plans, the government says private renters could save £240 per year on average on their energy bills, with all private landlords in England and Wales mandated to meet higher energy performance ratings in their properties by 2030.
