A thug who was carrying a monstrous knife around Paisley has been jailed for over a year. Paisley Sheriff Court was shown a picture of the knife Graeme Anderson had in his possession on July 15 in the town’s Kilnside Road and Seedhill Road.

However, Sheriff Thomas Ward felt the picture downplayed the size of the weapon, stating the picture “didn’t do the knife any justice” and asked to have the knife brought in to the court. The black-handled knife, resembling a butcher’s knife or machete, was shown to the sheriff who jailed Anderson for possessing the “fearsome weapon" in a public place. The 32-year-old admitted that, on July 15, he caused “fear or alarm” by shouting, swearing and uttering threats of violence while in possession of a knife in Kilnside Road.Anderson, described as a prisoner of Low Moss jail in East Dunbartonshire, also admitted to being in possession of the knife in two Paisley streets and to acting in a “racially aggravated manner” towards a police officer by shouting, swearing and making a racial remark towards them on the same date, in Seedhill Road.Renfrewshire Live, the new free app dedicated to bringing you around the clock breaking news, is now available to download.Powered by the Paisley Daily Express, Renfrewshire Live is your go-to source for news, features and sport with live coverage provided direct to the app, seven days a week. The dedicated team of experienced journalists, responsible for the publication of the award-winning Express, will focus on breaking news, day and night, across Renfrewshire’s towns and villages. There is also a dedicated St Mirren section that will follow every kick of the ball with the Buddies.
