ScotRail have launched a spring deal this week allowing Renfrewshire locals to travel at half price. The firm's Yours to Use offer aims to help people explore Scotland's hidden gems and experience the benefits of rail travel.Tickets can only be booked between May 9 and May 15, but travel is valid inclusively until May 31.Scotrail, which has recently been taken over by the Scottish Government, says the initiative aims to encourage people to rediscover their sense of adventure as they continue to recover from the pandemic. The deal, however, is only available for off-peak tickets between Monday and Friday.Over the period, almost six million seats will be available for passengers and along with encouraging people to get back on Scotland’s tracks, the offer hopes to persuade members of the public to leave the car at home and consider more sustainable forms of travel. And Transport Minister Jenny Gilruth MSP said: “In February, I set out the Scottish Government’s vision for a publicly owned ScotRail as a rail service which is focussed on passengers’ needs and interests and provides value for money to the taxpayer."This offer is further demonstration of our commitment becoming a reality.“The Scottish Government understands that people are struggling right now and that the costs of travelling have risen sharply."We want to show people that travelling by train might offer an alternative.
