Troon legend Scott Chatham to be honoured as Portland Park Legends clash with Kilmarnock old boys

Blasts from the past will dust down their boots to pay tribute to Troon legend Scott Chatham.Scottish Cup winning skipper Ray Montgomerie will lead a team of Kilmarnock veterans against Chatham's former team-mates at Portland Park on Saturday (kick-off 2pm).The grand match follows a sportsman's brunch and benefit dinner earlier this year to honour the stalwart's 13 years with The Seasiders.Among those expected in the Killie line-up are Paul Di Giacomo, Andy McLaren, Colin Nish, Dean Shiels, Fraser Wright, James Fowler and Craig Dargo.Troon's team will be sprinkled with club worthies such as David Gillies, Gareth 'Bo' Armstrong, Gavin Collins, Dean Keenan, Dale Moore and Calum Hardie.Gordon Burns, a former team-mate of Chatham and later his manager, is on the organising committee.Burns said: “Every club needs a Chappy.

He reminds me of John Traynor when I was at Ayr."You always knew what you were getting, he hardly every missed training, always gave his all and money was never a big factor.”During a career that was stamped with loyalty, Chatham played in most positions in Troon's blue and black and became captain.After starting out with Bonnyton youths, he played for Crosshouse Ams before Michael O'Neill signed the 20-year-old for Troon in 2008.In these days, he was a defender but later operated as a midfielder under John Redmond and current gaffer Jimmy Kirkwood.In 2012-13, Troon were promoted to the Super First Division with Chappy a key cog in the team's success.The following season, Troon won the league and Ayrshire Cup while they were beaten finalists in the West of Scotland Cup.Season 2015-16 saw Troon go on a long unbeaten run as they chased the West Premier title, eventually finishing fourth.When they finished
