Renewed calls are being made by cross-party politicians for the reinstatement of a much-missed direct bus service from Lanarkshire to Glasgow.
Monica Lennon MSP says passengers of the withdrawn X1 “won’t stop campaigning” and is calling for Scottish Government support, while Hamilton West by-election candidate Katy Loudon is calling for former operator First Bus to meet and explore options to restore the “essential” route.
The service from Hillhouse and Earnock in Hamilton direct to the city ceased three years ago and both residents and representatives have stepped up their action in recent months with a petition, demonstration and Holyrood mention of the issue.The Lanarkshire Live app is available to download now.
