EXCLUSIVE: Emmy-winning writer-producer René Balcer has signed with Verve for representation. The Montréal, Canada native is known for his work as showrunner of Law & Order, which he ran for eight years of its initial 20-year run.
During his tenure, L&O won the Emmy for Outstanding Drama Series, secured a five-season network pickup; and tied Gunsmoke for longest-running series.
Balcer went on to create and showrun the spinoff Law & Order: Criminal Intent, which ran for ten seasons, as well as limited series Law & Order True Crime: The Menendez Murders, which earned Edie Falco a Best Actress Emmy nomination, and CBS’ procedural FBI: Most Wanted.
Balcer is also active in the international space, having created the UK series Jo starring Jean Reno, as well as Bodyguards for TF1.
