Steaua Bucharest owner Gigi Becali claims her made a last gasp offer to sign Ianis Hagi which included a remarkable clause that he would be guaranteed to start every European match with his dad Gheorghe deciding which domestic matches he played.Rangers play against the Romanian side in the Europa League group stages after they were drawn together on Friday and they have made no secret of their interest in frozen-out Hagi.
The 25-year-old has been training with the B team with a clause in his contract meaning he would be due a wage hike if he features for the first team which Record Sport understands would be around £6000.
But Hagi is reportedly open to negotiating that and there is a clamour for Philippe Clement to welcome him back into the fold but before that Steaua owner Becali revealed he made a last ditch attempt to persuade Hagi to return to his homeland and sign for the club, after discussions with his famous ex-Barcelona and Real Madrid father Gheorghe.
The deal would even have allowed Gheorghe - who owns and manages rivals Farul Constanta - to decide how often Ianis would have played.Becali said: "I spoke with Gheorghe out of respect for him.
