Reese Witherspoon reflects on her ex-husband’s controversial ‘more money’ comment

Although many years have passed since Reese Witherspoon stood on the Oscar stage with her now ex-husband Ryan Phillipe, she has finally spoken out about that money comment.

The then couple took to the stage in 2002 to present the Acadamy Award for Best Make Up, where Reese asked Ryan if she could read out the name of the winner.

However, before handing over the piece of paper, he turned to his wife, hesitated and said: ‘You make more [money] than I do, go ahead,’ leaving Reese slightly taken aback.

The actress spoke about this moment, which happened 18-years-ago, during the HFPA in Conversation podcast, as she said: ‘You’re reminding me of that!
