Manchester United fans have hailed Fred for unexpectedly opening the scoring in their side's clash with Tottenham. The Brazilian, who has struggled for minutes this season, recorded his first goal of the campaign two minutes after the break, finding the net partly thanks to a deflection off Ben Davies.
The midfielder was a surprise selection for the match. Fred started in place of the unwell Christian Eriksen in Sunday’s goalless draw with Newcastle and endured a fruitless display, missing a glorious chance late on.

The 29-year-old also began the second half in blistering form, slotting home after Jadon Sancho's lay-off to strike first blood.
