Todd Spangler NY Digital Editor Sarah Rosen, who left Twitter last year shortly after Elon Musk’s takeover over the social network, has joined Reddit as senior director of content partnerships.

At Twitter, Rosen most recently was head of North America content partnerships, leading all efforts in the region across entertainment, news and sports.

After eight and a half years at Twitter, Rosen quit in November, less than a month after Musk closed the $44 billion acquisition.

In her new role at Reddit, Rosen will oversee the content partnerships team focused on media, sports, gaming and entertainment verticals.

The producer and DJ spoke of the unreleased record to “Sway In The Morning” on March 27, while he and Talib Kweli were promoting their new joint album, “Liberation 2.” Madlib told Sway that he was in the process of finishing several projects, including an EP with the late rapper as well as a record with Erykah Badu. “Right now, I’m finishing up the Mac Miller album, Planet Asia album, Erykah Badu album, different stuff,” Madlib said. “[Erykah and I] just started on an album … We have a lot of unreleased stuff.” He also confirmed that Miller’s estate had approved the release of the set.

K.J. Yossman “The Rising” Season 2 has been canceled just months before production was due to start, Variety has learned. Cast and crew were gearing up for the Sky Studios show when they were told to down tools two months before principal photography got underway. “It was canceled before they were due to start filming,” a source familiar with the project told Variety. “All the cast and everything [were ready to go] and they just pulled the plug.” Variety understands there were a “number of reasons” the production will not go ahead. The second season, which was set to be titled “Risen,” was due to have a similar premise to the first but with different characters, settings and themes, turning the show into something of an anthology series.

Dan Clancy, currently Twitch’s president, will succeed Shear as CEO, effective immediately. In a blog post Thursday announcing the decision, Shear said he will continue to work at Twitch in an advisory role. Shear said he was stepping down as Twitch CEO following the birth of his first child. “With my first child just born, I’ve been reflecting on my future with Twitch. Twitch often feels to me like a child I’ve been raising as well,” Shear wrote. “And while I will always want to be there if Twitch needs me, at 16 years old it feels to me Twitch is ready to move out of the house and venture alone. So it is with great poignancy that I share my decision to resign from Twitch as CEO. I want to be fully there for my son as he enters this world and I feel ready for this change to tackle new challenges.”

Mark Zuckerberg, Meta’s co-founder and CEO, announced the planned cuts in a memo to employees Tuesday as an “update on our Year of Efficiency.” The 10,000 layoffs represent 11.6% of the 86,482 full-time employees Meta reported as of the end of 2022. Zuckerberg said Meta also is instituting a hiring freeze, canceling about 5,000 open job positions. “Overall, we expect to reduce our team size by around 10,000 people and to close around 5,000 additional open roles that we haven’t yet hired,” Zuckerberg wrote in the memo (read it below).

Roku Hires Dan Jedda, Former Amazon and Stitch Fix Exec, as CFO

According to the company, Louden will work closely with Jedda during transition period before Loudon exits the company in August 2023. Louden had previously planned to step down as CFO in late 2019 but later decided to remain at Roku. Jedda joins the company as Roku’s revenue growth slowed dramatically at the tail end of last year — and the company expects overall revenue to decline about 5% in the first quarter of 2023. Amid macroeconomic headwinds, Roku’s operating expenses have soared, and the streaming platform company has made layoffs and taken other cost-cutting steps.

Discovery, who asked Musk why Twitter couldn’t put an ad with the trailer for HBO hit show “The White Lotus” next to every tweet that mentions “White Lotus.” Musk responded affirmatively, describing it as basic keyword-based ad buys that Twitter is now selling: “It’s just Google AdWords but applied to tweets.”
