A rat infested restaurant has been shut down after poo was found in food preparation areas. The Indian restaurant was forced to pay over £1000 a will remain closed until the infestation has been eradicated.
The East London establishment underwent an inspection from Environmental Health officers last month following a complaint from a customer.
Officials visited Ranna on January 25 and found evidence of a significant rodent infestation.MyLondon reports that officers also found deposits of dirt and grease that indicated a lack of proper food hygiene standards being maintained in the restaurant.
Following the inspection, the proprietor of Ranna was hit with a Hygiene Emergency Prohibition Order and ordered to pay Council costs of £1096 at a hearing at Thames Magistrates’.The Walthamstow business was forced to close on February 1 despite extensive cleaning, repairs and pest control measures being introduced by the eatery.
