Rape accused Manchester City footballer Benjamin Mendy will remain in custody after a new court hearing date was fixed today by a judge.
French international Mendy, 27, of Prestbury, Cheshire, was charged on Tuesday with two new counts of rape, the Crown Prosecution said.
He now faces six counts of rape and one of sexual assault. The charges are three counts of rape on October 11, 2020; sexual touching on January 2, 2021; one count of rape on July 24, 2021 and two counts of rape on August 23, 2021.
The CPS said the charges relate to four complainants over the age of 16. Co-accused Louis Saha Matturie, of Eccles, Salford, was also charged with two additional counts of rape and one count of sexual assault.
