Rangers have rocketed a staggering 163 places in less than four years to leapfrog bitter rivals Celtic in UEFA’s club coefficient table.

The Light Blues were languishing in 206th place in the summer of 2018 when Steven Gerrard swept into Ibrox. Rangers made an ill-fated return to the European arena 12 months previously when they were humiliated by Progres Niederkorn.

Even Aberdeen were looking down on them, albeit in 192nd position, but the Hoops were in 47th position having just qualified for the Champions League group stage for the second season in a row.

But there has been a dramatic change in those three and a half years with Rangers overtaking their rivals.Clubs are awarded two points for a win and a point for a draw in the group
