But Jack’s strike leaves the Ayrshire men with seven defeats in a row and they’re now just a point above Hamilton who demolished the Steelmen 4-1.
Greg Kiltie had a good chance in the 10th minute when he turned to shoot, but his effort was blocked out for a corner which led to nothing for the visitors.
Rangers had the ball in the net after 17 minutes, but captain James Tavernier strayed offside and it was disallowed. In the 28th minute Ianis Hagi smashed a free-kick which looked sure to be going in, but it went narrowly wide of Colin Doyle’s.
