Ralf Rangnick abandoned his attempts to turn Manchester United into a pressing team after just his second Premier League game in charge of the club.

The German was renowned for his gegenpressing style prior to his appointment as United's interim manager and in his first press conference he said he wanted to turn his players into 'pressing monsters'.

But as early as United's fortuitous 1-0 win at Norwich City on December 11 Rangnick realised that wasn't going to be achievable. Rangnick had been in charge for just over a week when United made the trip to Carrow Road and they had pressed aggressively in his first game against Crystal Palace, which came after just one training session.
