R. Kelly Found Guilty in Federal Trial in Chicago

R. Kelly is facing another guilty verdict. The 55-year-old R&B superstar was convicted of charges alleging child pornography, obstruction of justice and the enticement of minors into criminal sexual activity following a month-long trial featuring roughly 30 witnesses, including four women who claim he sexually abused them when they were teenagers in the ’90s, via the Chicago Sun Times. Kelly is already serving a 30-year sentence for his racketeering conviction last year in New York. Federal prosecutors in Chicago and New York revealed indictments against him back in July of 2019.

He was arrested outside of Trump Tower in Chicago that month. The New York conviction is expected to keep him in prison until at least his late 70s.

There were five accusers, four videos, 13 counts and 24 years of accusations dating back to 1996 in the Chicago case. During the summer, the entertainer sued the Metropolitan Detention Center Brooklyn for placing him under suicide watch.
