Queen to spend ‘days of quiet reflection’ grieving family before Jubilee, says expert

As the Queen approaches her Platinum Jubilee, her special celebrations will be marked by sadness. Her Majesty faces a challenging few months, remembering her late father King George VI and her beloved husband Prince Philip, who died in April last year.

It’s also the 20th anniversary of the deaths of Princess Margaret and the Queen Mother, who passed away in 2002 – the Queen’s Golden Jubilee year.

Speaking exclusively to OK!, royal expert Jennie Bond said the monarch will seek out privacy and make time to remember her loved ones. “These are events that she needs to recognise, mark and reflect on in privacy if she can,” says Jennie. “I think they will be days of quiet reflection about very much loved members of her family.” Last month the Queen travelled to Sandringham’s private Wood Farm, where she and Prince Philip would relax together.

And Jennie believes Her Majesty may mark her mother and sister’s anniversaries in the same way. Jennie explains: “We only really know how she marks the anniversary of the death of her father, which is always very quietly on February 6, at Sandringham.” She adds: “Jubilees seem to be marked by difficulties for the poor Queen.
