Charles, Prince of Wales (Charles Philip Arthur George; born 14 November 1948) is the heir apparent to the British throne as the eldest son of Elizabeth II. He has been Duke of Cornwall and Duke of Rothesay since 1952, and he is the oldest and longest-serving heir apparent in British history.

He is also the longest-serving Prince of Wales, having held that title since 1958. Charles was born at Buckingham Palace as the first grandchild of King George VI and Queen Elizabeth. He was educated at Cheam and Gordonstoun schools, which his father, Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, had attended as a child. Charles also spent a year at the Timbertop campus of Geelong Grammar School in Victoria, Australia.

Queen to attend Chelsea Flower Show with Princess Beatrice and Sophie Wessex

The Queen is planning to attend the Chelsea Flower Show next week it has been confirmed. Buckingham Palace said the 96 year-old monarch is hoping to make an appearance at the event - which is a highlight in the annual royal calendar.The Queen's granddaughter, Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson's daughter Princess Beatrice, 33, is already confirmed to be attending alongside Prince Edward, his wife Sophie the Countess of Wessex, the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester, the Duke of Kent, Prince and Princess Michael of Kent and Princess Alexandra.

Members of the royal family will visit the event at the Royal Hospital Chelsea in London on Monday ahead of its official opening the next day.

It is understood a decision will be made on the day as to whether the Queen is able to make it, according to the Mirror.The Queen missed the State Opening of Parliament ten days ago due to mobility problems she has been experiencing with Prince Charles reading the Queen's Speech on her behalf.

However, she has been seen out and about several times since. On Tuesday she made a surprise visit to Paddington station alongside Prince Edward to formally open the new Elizabeth Line on the London Underground.
