Charles, Prince of Wales (Charles Philip Arthur George; born 14 November 1948) is the heir apparent to the British throne as the eldest son of Elizabeth II. He has been Duke of Cornwall and Duke of Rothesay since 1952, and he is the oldest and longest-serving heir apparent in British history.

He is also the longest-serving Prince of Wales, having held that title since 1958. Charles was born at Buckingham Palace as the first grandchild of King George VI and Queen Elizabeth. He was educated at Cheam and Gordonstoun schools, which his father, Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, had attended as a child. Charles also spent a year at the Timbertop campus of Geelong Grammar School in Victoria, Australia.

Queen pictured smiling without walking stick after Jubilee mobility issues

The Queen was pictured smiling as she attended a royal engagement without a walking stick, following her recent mobility issues.

Her Majesty, 96, has recently been pictured at several appearances using a walking aid - including at the Order of the Garter service with Prince Charles and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall last week.

However, on Tuesday afternoon, the Queen received a special award from the Archbishop of Canterbury at Windsor Castle where she was seen walking without her mobility aid.

She was seen walking across and shaking hands with Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby, who presented her with a special 'Canterbury Cross' to mark her service to the Church of England over seventy years.The Queen wore a white dress that was decorated with a pink floral pattern for the occasion, as well as a pair of flat black shoes.
