She began to undertake public duties during the Second World War, serving in the Auxiliary Territorial Service. In 1947, she married Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, a former prince of Greece and Denmark, with whom she has four children: Charles, Prince of Wales; Anne, Princess Royal; Prince Andrew, Duke of York; and Prince Edward, Earl of Wessex.

The late Queen Elizabeth II was known for her one signature make-up look that Kate Middleton does not seem to be a fan of.The Princess of Wales has impeccable style and her outfit choices usually attract a lot of attention just like the former monarch did with her iconic fashion sense back in the day.Many of the products that the 41-year-old royal uses are often best sellers, including Clarins Lip Perfector.Despite this, Kate is missing out one famous trick that was used by the Queen and that was her love for a bold lipstick, the Express reports.Throughout her historical 70-year reign, the late sovereign was often pictured wearing either a red or a dark pinky-red lip so much so that UK-based makeup brand Charlotte Tilbury paid "homage" to the former Queen with their shade 'rosy crown-jewel pink'.Like many female fashion icons in the 1950s, the Queen was drawn to wearing a bright red lip.However fast forward to the present and the future Queen is more a fan of a barely-there or nude lip colour.Kate having never been pictured with a bright lip colour with the princess only ever being pictured wearing nude, subtle pink or lip gloss since as far back as 2006.With many royals opting for a neutral look, the late Queen's decision proved that it wasn't - or isn't - against protocol to switch things up.

The Princess of Wales reportedly did her own makeup for her wedding back in 2011 to Prince William. The senior royal wore Bobbi Brown's Sandwash Pink lipstick for her nuptials and although it was slightly bolder than her usual shade, it wasn't as bright as the ones worn previously by the late Queen.
