Sir Michael Oswald, the close friend and racing advisor of Queen Elizabeth, has sadly died at 86. Sir Michael‘s death was announced on Saturday (April 17), the same day as Prince Philip‘s funeral, per ET.
He acted as manager of the Royal Studs since 1970 and led the royal family’s horses to twin British Classic Races. He was also racing manager to the Queen Mother and jumps adviser for the Queen. Sir Michael was appointed to Knight Grand Cross of the Royal Victorian Order in 2020 on the New Year Hounours list.
He was married Lady Angela Cecil CVO, the daughter of the 6th Marquess of Exeter David George Brownlow Cecil and former lady-win-waiting for the Queen Mother.
