A former protection officer of The Queen has revealed how Her Majesty celebrated when she discovered her granddaughter Zara Tindall had won an Olympic medal after being too nervous to watch the event live.
Former royal protection officer Richard Griffin recalled his time with Queen Elizabeth II on 13 September on Sky News. He confirmed The Queen's adoration for horse riding and said that the Queen had been too anxious to watch Zara's competing run at the 2012 Olympic Games.
According to Griffin, the Queen decided to venture out on a picnic to distract herself but inevitably asked him to check how her granddaughter had done.
When Her Majesty found out that Princess Anne's daughter had bagged a silver medal the Queen "danced around in circles". Zara won the silver medal as part of the team event during the competition, the single Olympic title of her career.
