Alleged acrimony between the two nobles reportedly erupted after Harry and Meghan opted to abdicate their royal stations in the UK and relocate to California to quietly raise Archie, 4, and Lilibet, 2.Rumors of contention between the prince’s royal family and his wife reached a fever pitch in January, when Harry released memoir “Spare,” in which he dubbed his father’s wife a “wicked stepmother.” Years prior to the fallout, Camilla and Meghan were said to have had a friendly bond. “In many ways, Camilla had paved the way for Meghan,” Vanity Fair Royal Editor Katie Nicholl said in a Channel 5 documentary, seemingly noting the parallels between the now-queen’s initially frosty welcome into the royal family due to her years-long affair with Charles. “Camilla would have been there to tell her not to take any criticism personally,” added Nicholl, “but this is just what happens when you’re an outsider.”And while it’s unclear whether Camilla’s re-do regalia at the Ascot was meant to be a dig at Markle, sources told Page Six Wednesday, “The gossip in the royal enclosure was how happy everyone was that Meghan and Harry weren’t here.”.
