Two puffins named Tony and Don have been released back into the wild after being rescued near Dundee. The endangered birds were found within hours of each other in Montrose and Fife.
Don had an injured leg and ‘was feeling very sorry for himself’ while Tony was discovered under a pile of seaweed and soaked through from the rain.
The pair were kept together for the last couple of weeks and got on very well. They have now been successfully released near Elie and should make a full recovery.
April Dodds, assistant manager of the Scottish SPCA’s National Wildlife Rescue Centre, said: “Don was found at around 9am on 8 December on a beach in Montrose.
