Hundreds of demonstrators joined the peaceful protest which started in Piccadilly Gardens at lunchtime on Saturday (May 1). Campaigners marched through the city centre holding banners that read 'reject military coup, save Myanmar'.
Other banners said 'stop killing innocent civilians in Myanmar'. Organisers of the protest said it was held in support of the people of Myanmar, also known as Burma, in South East Asia, after the military seized control of the country on February 1.
