Wigan Warriors have appointed Thomas Leuluai as their new club captain for the 2021 Betfred Super League season. The long-serving Kiwi scrum-half, 35, succeeds fellow Wigan great Sean O’Loughlin, who had worn the armband at the DW Stadium since 2006.
The former England skipper retired at the end of term and, while John Bateman and Liam Farrell were among those tipped to succeed him, it is Leuluai who has been tasked with the job.
He is one of the most decorated players in the game, having won a World Club Challenge, two Super League titles, a Challenge Cup and three League Leaders’ Shields in the cherry and white.
