Four cheeky prisoners climbed on to a roof at Barlinnie prison to demand Tunnock’s wafers and Easter eggs. But the dozy foursome dropped their protest when temperatures plummeted and then requested a ladder so they could climb down.

The drama, which began yesterday afternoon, unfolded after the four decided to climb on top of the undercroft – a bungalow-sized building within the jail.

Sources said they stayed up for a couple of hours, then decided that despite the spring sunshine it was too cold for a long, drawn-out “rooftop siege”.The source said: “They wanted Easter eggs and Tunnock’s wafers.“Nobody can get the wafers just now as Tunnock’s have shut down due to the pandemic.
