Prison Break, the popular series that ran for five seasons from 2005 to 2017, is set to make a comeback. Variety reports that Hulu has commissioned a pilot episode for a reboot of the show, following confirmation in November 2023 that the series was under development.

However, fans may be disappointed to learn that the original cast will not be returning. The reboot will take place in the same universe as the original but will centre on a new group of prison inmates, portrayed by a fresh cast.

Paul Scheuring, the creator of the original series, will return as executive producer, alongside Dawn Olmstead, Marty Adelstein, Neil Moritz and Elgin James.

The original Prison Break aired four seasons on Fox before concluding in 2009, with a revival in 2017 for a fifth season. The plot centred around brothers Lincoln Burrows (Dominic Purcell) and Michael Scofield (Wentworth Miller), navigating life behind bars.
