Jacob Elordi plays Elvis Presley in Sofia Coppola‘s Priscilla, a film that chronicles the life of Priscilla Presley and the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll.

While making an appearance on The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon, the Euphoria actor said that his only reference to Elvis prior to portraying the performer was from the Disney animated movie Lilo & Stitch. “The most I knew of Elvis was in Lilo & Stitch,” Elordi told the NBC late-night show host.

The Australian actor said that portraying Elvis in the film “wasn’t on my list of people to play. It was definitely — it was a little bit terrifying.

Elordi also talked about his audition process saying that he didn’t feel he had a chance to get the part. However, he saw a clip of the singer as he came back from the army in Germany “And I read the lines for like 15 minutes and then show two takes… not thinking that it would go anywhere.” The actor said that the prospect of working with an acclaimed director like Coppola was “exciting” and says it was “pure bliss.” “That was the only reason — the whole time I was trying to take it like I was making Blue Valentine or something.
