Prince William made a sustainable style statement on the green carpet at the Earthshot Prize Awards in Cape Town tonight, Wednesday 6 November.The Royal donned a second-hand double-breasted Prince of Wales check jacket, from a London Vintage store, while he also rocked white sustainable trainers from Purified Footwear – which produces plastic free, biodegradable sneakers - in keeping with the sustainable fashion ethos guests were asked to follow.
Prince William walked the green carpert with Earthshot Prize ambassadors Robert Irwin, son of the late wildlife warrior Steve Irwin, and Nomzamo Mbatha.The glitzy affair also saw A-listers like supermodels Heidi Klum and Winnie Harlow, and actress Nina Dobrev in attendance.
They celebrated with the 15 hopefuls competing for one of the five £1million Earthshot Prize Awards. Mary Allen of Natural Fiber Welding, creators of Purified Shoes, was over the moon, saying: "I had no idea Prince William was going to be wearing the shoes until just before we got here.
It's such a huge honour. I was told he sourced them himself after learning of our product and it's a massive boost for us. Meeting all them finalists and being here is going to launch us onto massive things, we couldn't be prouder.
