Prince William says he 'refuses to give up' or 'succumb to despair' in heartfelt statement

The Prince of Wales has shared a tough new statement calling for fighting to end “as soon as possible” in the Israel-Hamas war, saying: “There is a desperate need for increased humanitarian support to Gaza.” The personal statement begins: “I remain deeply concerned about the terrible human cost of the conflict in the Middle East since the Hamas terrorist attack on October 7.Too many have been killed." William goes on to say: "We must not succumb to the counsel of despair." As well as the bold call to action, Prince William is to carry out visits this month that will "recognise the human suffering" of conflicts in Gaza, Israel and the Middle East.

The full statement from the Prince of Wales reads: “I remain deeply concerned about the terrible human cost of the conflict in the Middle East since the Hamas terrorist attack on October 7.Too many have been killed. “I, like so many others, want to see an end to the fighting as soon as possible.There is a desperate need for increased humanitarian support to Gaza.

It’s critical that aid gets in and the hostages are released. “Sometimes it is only when faced with the sheer scale of human suffering that the importance of permanent peace is brought home. “Even in the darkest hour, we must not succumb to the counsel of despair.

I continue to cling to the hope that a brighter future can be found and I refuse to give up on that.” The upcoming visits will also address concerns about a rise in antisemitism as it is understood that the prince will attend a meeting in a synagogue to hear from young "advocates against hatred and antisemitism".The Prince and Princess of Wales, have been left "profoundly concerned" by the events in Gaza and Israel.
