Prince William has been forced to cancel a planned work commitment today due to the weather. The Prince of Wales had been due to meet troops and their families from the Army Air Corps (AAC), arriving at the Wattisham flying station in Suffolk in a Wildcat Helicopter.

William has been the AAC’s Colonel-in-Chief since May 2024, when the King officially handed over the role at the Army Aviation Centre in Middle Wallop.A statement from Kensington Palace read: “With regret, this engagement has been postponed as a result of poor weather which would have significantly restricted the planned programme.“The Prince of Wales sends his sincere apologies to those who he had been due to meet and hopes to reschedule his visit at the earliest convenience.”The AAC holds a special connection to the royals - it’s Prince Harry’s old unit and where he served ass an Apache helicopter commander in Afghanistan in 2012.As we previously reported, the King’s decision to hand the role over to William was seen as a huge snub to Charles’ youngest son when it Wass announced in 2023.Get the latest news sent straight to your messages by joining our WhatsApp community today. You'll receive daily updates on breaking news as well as the top headlines across Scotland. No one will be able to see who is signed up and no one can send messages except the Daily Record team. All you have to do is click here if you're on mobile, select 'Join Community' and you're in!If you're on a desktop, simply scan the QR code above with your phone and click 'Join Community'.We also treat our community members to special offers, promotions, and adverts from us and our partners.
