Prince William made his scathing statement about the BBC because he "felt he had to step up and defend his mother", an insider has said.
On Thursday the second-in-line to the throne said reporter Martin Bashir's web of deceit “substantially influenced” what Princess Diana said in her bombshell Panorama interview and “was a major contribution to making my parents’ relationship worse”.
