Prince William Cancels BAFTAs Appearance After His Grandfather's Death

Prince William will no longer be participating in the 2021 BAFTAs ceremony, which is taking place this weekend in London.

The 38-year-old Duke of Cambridge is the president of BAFTA and is usually sitting front and center at the awards show with his with Kate Middleton.

Following the death of William‘s grandfather Prince Philip, who became the first BAFTA president in 1959, he has dropped out of the event. “In light of The Duke of Edinburgh’s passing, The Duke of Cambridge will no longer be part of BAFTA programming this weekend,” BAFTA said in a statement. “Our thoughts are with the Royal Family, to whom we offer our deepest sympathy at this time.” The event is taking place across two-days this weekend and William was expected to deliver
