Prince Harry does not want the focus to be on him amid his late grandmother Queen Elizabeth II's upcoming funeral and the proceeding events.

It was announced on Monday that Harry, a military veteran, would not be permitted to wear his official uniform to any of the public events surrounding the queen's death.

On Tuesday, a spokesperson for the Duke of Sussex released a statement to ET addressing the situation. “Prince Harry, The Duke of Sussex will wear a morning suit throughout events honouring his grandmother," the statement read. «His decade of military service is not determined by the uniform he wears and we respectfully ask that focus remain on the life and legacy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.”As was previously reported, the 37-year-old son of King Charles III and the late Princess Diana will not be permitted to wear his uniform for any of the official events surrounding the queen's death, including the vigil at Westminster Abbey. After stepping down as a senior member of the royal family in 2020, Harry was forced to relinquish his honorary military appointments.
