It's been a full year since Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were required to return the keys to their Frogmore Cottage residence. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex received the Royal cottage as a wedding gift from the late Queen in 2018, but an expert suggests they made a significant error in accepting the offer.Following their departure from the Royal Family, the couple were asked to leave by King Charles.

It now seems that the monarch wishes for the embattled Prince Andrew to move into the property, amidst a dispute over his current residence, Royal Lodge. At the time, the Sussexes happily accepted the late Queen's generous gift - however, they've been labelled "out of touch" for assuming they would always retain access to the lavish cottage.

Royal author Tom Quinn believes this presumption "speaks volumes" - and likely compounded the Duke's distress over his father's decision, reports the Mirror. In an exclusive interview with The Mirror, he elaborated: "Harry and Meghan imagined Frogmore would always be there for them even if they came back to the UK for just a few weeks each year and even if they were no longer working royals."The eviction process commenced in January 2023, one day after the explosive memoir Spare was published.

The King initiated proceedings for The Duke and Duchess to vacate, but their departure was subsequently backdated, with Harry and Meghan officially moving out on June 29, 2023.According to Tom, this date holds "significant" meaning for Harry, indicating he was deeply impacted by the King's decision to evict the Sussexes. The author elaborated: "At the time, few people realised what a slap in the face the eviction from Frogmore felt like for Harry it was the last straw.
