The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are understood to have had "no idea" of Kate Middleton's cancer diagnosis until she went public with the news and released an honest, unprecedented video announcement to the nation on Friday evening.

Despite the Princess' husband, Prince William, being Prince Harry's only brother - and Harry stating years ago that he saw Princess Kate as the "big sister I never had" - sources claim he and his wife Meghan Markle found out the sad news at the same time as the rest of the world.

Following the Princess' announcement, the Sussexes released a brief statement wishing "health and healing" to Princess Catherine, who they referred to by her nickname, Kate. "We wish health and healing for Kate and the family, and hope they are able to do so privately and in peace," they said.

Whilst a few years ago, the two Princes and their wives were known affectionately as the "Fab Four," the relationship between the couples soon became fragmented and the brothers are said to barely speak these days.
